પ્રિયંવદા નટરાજનનો જન્મ તમિલનાડુના કોઇમ્બતુરમાં થયો હતો. તેમણે પોતાનું શરૂઆતી શિક્ષણ દિલ્હીની R.K Purna સ્થિત દિલ્હી પબ્લિક સ્કૂલમાંથી મેળવ્યુ હતું. ત્યારબાદ તેમણે અમેરિકાની Massachusetts Institute of Technology માંથી ફિઝિક્સ અને મેથેમેટિક્સમાં અંડર ગ્રેજ્યુએટ ડીગ્રી પ્રાપ્ત કરી. તેમણે પોતાનું ગ્રેજ્યુએશન ઇંગ્લેન્ડની કેમ્બ્રિજ યુનિવર્સિટીના institute of astronomy માંથી theoretical astrophysics માં સંપન્ન કર્યું. ફિલહાલ તેઓ અમેરિકાની Yale University ના એસ્ટ્રોનોમી અને ફિઝિક્સ ડિપાર્ટમેન્ટમાં પ્રોફેસર તરીકે કાર્યરત છે.

તેમણે સ્પેસથી જોડાયેલ ઘણાં ક્ષેત્રોમાં ખુબજ ગહન સંશોધન કર્યું છે. જેમાં Gravitational Lensing, Clusters of galaxies
it's orbits and velocity, Alignment of the spin of disks and the central black
holes, Evolution of warped accretion disks, Issues in galaxy formation, The
fueling of quasars, The connection between high redshift galaxies, Active galactic
nuclei and their central black holes, The black hole mass function, Role of
quasars and their outflows in galaxy formation, The merger and evolution of
supermassive black hole, Morphology and properties of gamma-ray burst, SN-GRB
connection જેવી વસ્તુઓ સામેલ છે. ટૂંકમાં ફક્ત ટાઇટલ વાંચતા પણ આપણાંથી થાકી જવાય તેટલાં વિષયો ઉપર તો તેમણે સંશોધન કર્યું છે.

આ સઘળી સિદ્ધિ બદલ તેમને 2009 માં India Abroad Foundation એ "Face of Future" એવોર્ડથી સમ્માનિત કર્યાં. તેઓ Royal Astronomical Society, American Physical Society અને The Explorers Club ના પણ સદસ્ય છે. 2011 માં તેમને દિલ્હીમાં India Empire NRI award for achievement in the science પણ એનાયત થયો હતો. ટૂંકમાં ભારતની આ દિકરીએ દુનિયાભરમાં પોતાના દેશનું નામ રોશન કર્યું છે તેમજ space science ના ક્ષેત્રમાં ક્યારેય ન ભૂલી શકાય તેવું યોગદાન આપ્યું છે.
